Idli Fry

Deep fried Rice cakes. I tasted this on the high recommendation by my hubby at a restaurant and immediately got hooked to it. It is crispy and delicious and a perfect way to finish off left over unwanted Idlis/Rice cakes.

Tomatokayi Palya

Raw Tomato and Onion side dish
Time Required: 20 Minutes
Ingredients:
250gms Raw Tomatoes
2 Onions
1tsp Chili Powder
1tbsp Oil
½ tsp Mustard Seeds
Few Curry leaves
A pinch of Turmeric powder
½ tsp Sugar
¼ Cup Fresh Coconut, Grated
Salt to taste

Avarekayi Tovve

A mild curry prepared using Karnataka winter flat beans!
Time Required: 30 Minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
2 Cups Avarekayi
1tbsp fresh Coconut, Grated
Juice of 1 Lemon
2 Chilies
Few pieces of Ginger
Few Curry Leaves
1tbsp Oil
1tsp Mustard Seeds
1tsp Jeera/Cumin Seeds
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
1tbsp Coriander leaves
Salt to taste

Onion Chutney

Time Required: 10 Minutes
Ingredients:
1 Cup fresh Coconut, grated
¼ Cup Chopped Onions
1tbsp Bengal Gram Dal
1tsp Urad Dal/Split black gram dal
4 – 5 Dry Red Chilis
1tbsp Oil
½tsp Mustard Seeds
Few Curry leaves
Salt to taste

Pudina Coconut Chutney

Mint and fresh Coconut chutney
Ingredients:
1 Cup fresh Pudina/ Mint
½ Cup fresh Coconut, Grated
2 Green Chilies
1tbsp Fried Gram
A small piece of Tamarind
1tsp Oil
½ tsp Mustard Seeds
Few Curry leaves
1 dry Red Chili
Salt to taste

Soppina Kadalekayi Kosambari

Green tender Chik Peas salad
Time Required: 10 Minutes + Peas shelling time
Ingredients:
1 Cup Soppina Kadalekayi/tender Chik Peas
1 Green Chili
1tbsp Lemon juice
1tbsp Grated fresh Coconut
1tsp Oil
½ tsp Mustard Seeds
Salt to taste

Bread Uppittu

Time Required: 25 Minutes
Serves: 2
Ingredients:
10 Bread slices
1 Onion
2tbsp Chopped Coriander
2 Green Chilies
Juice of half Lemon
Few Curry leaves
1tbsp Oil
1tsp Bengal Gram
1tsp Urad Dal/Split Black Gram
½ tsp Mustard Seeds
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
Salt to taste

Lettuce Salad

Time Required: 10 Minutes
Ingredients:
1 bunch Lettuce leaves
1 Tomato
1 Onion
½ Cucumber/Zucchini
Few Green Olives
1tsp Olive Oil
1tbsp Vinegar
Salt and Pepper to taste

Godi Payasa

Pudding prepared using Broken Wheat and Coconut Milk.  It is extremely tasty and is also known as Godi Huggi in North Karnataka.
