Indian Lemonade

Lemonade flavored with Saffron and Cardamom
Required Time: 15 Minutes
Serves: 3
Ingredients:
Juice of 1 Lemon
3 Glasses of Water
7tbsp Sugar
A pinch of Salt
A pinch of Saffron Strands
1/2tsp Cardamom Powder

Masala Lassi

Flavored salty Buttermilk.  The spices in Indian dishes can be pretty harsh on the tummy, hence the food is usually washed down by a glass of Lassi to cool it.  This is a favorite  in Punjab.

Lemon Juice prepared with Jaggery and served during Rama Navami festival.

Settu Soup

Soup prepared using Red Gram Split, Vegetables and spices
Time Required: 30 Minutes
Serves: 2
Ingredients:
2 Cups Cauliflower florets
1 Tomato, Quartered
1 Onion, Quartered
½ Cup (50gms) Tuvar Dal / Red Gram Split
1tsp Jeera / Cumin Seeds
5cms Cinnamon Stick
½ tsp Peppercorns
¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
½ tsp Saunf / Aniseeds
1 Green Chilies, Sliced
1tbsp Oil
Chopped Coriander leaves for garnishing
Salt to taste

Appam

Typical Kerela crepe/pancake prepared using rice and coconut milk.  This dish is relished with Ishtew a vegetable side dish.

Shahi Makhanwala

A side dish prepared using Vegetables, Butter and Spices.  This is a popular dish of Punjab.

Ingredients:
1/2 Cup Shelled Peas
2 Tomatoes
1 Cup Cauliflower florets
2 Onions
1/2 Cup Paneer, Cubes
1tsp Khismis(Dry grapes)
1tsp Kaju pieces (Cashew nuts)
1tsp Walnut Pieces
½ Cup Curds
1-Cup Fresh Cream
4 tbsp Butter or Ghee
1-Cup Milk
Oil for deep frying
2 tbsp Ghee

Sweet Chutney

Time Required: 30 Minutes

Ingredients:
1 Cup Tamarind Pulp
5 Dates
3/4 Cup Grated Jaggery
1tsp Crush Saunf (Aniseed)
Salt to taste

Garlic Chutney

Time Required: 25 Minutes
Ingredients:
10 Dry Red Chilies or 1tbsp Red Chili Powder
10 Flakes of Garlic
Salt to taste
