Masala Vada are fritters prepared using lentils, chilies and onions. The aroma that arises while preparing this increases your hunger pans. I love to prepare this on a rainy cold evening and have it with a cup of hot tea or coffee curling up on a bean bag and watching TV.
Time Required: 20 Minutes + Soaking time
1 Cup Bengal Gram
1/4 Cup Urad Dal (Black Gram split)
1 Onion, Chopped finely
3 Green Chilies, Chopped finely
2 sprigs Coriander Leaves
1 sprig Curry leaves, Chopped
3 sprigs Sabsige soppu/Dill or Pudina/Mint leaves
Oil for deep frying
Salt to taste
Soak Bengal Gram and Urad Dal for 40 minutes. Grind together without adding water and remove to a mixing bowl. Add the other ingredients to the bowl and mix well.
Heat Oil in a frying pan. Divide the mixture into small balls and flatten each one of them on the palms and deep fry on medium flame till crisp.
