4 large pieces of Purple Yam
2 to 3 cups Curds/Yogurt
1/2 tsp Ginger
1/2 tsp Green Chili paste
1/2 tsp roasted Cumin Powder
1/4 tsp White or Black Pepper Powder
1/4 tsp Black Salt
Chopped Coriander leaves for garnishing
Salt to taste
Peel and cut the Yam into big pieces. Boil the Purple Yam with little Salt. Cut them into pieces or mash in hand.
In a mixing bowl, add Yogurt, Ginger-Chili Paste, Black Salt, Roasted Cumin Powder, Pepper Powder, and Salt. Mix well until the yogurt is smooth. Add the Purple Yam and mix gently.
Remove to a serving bowl.
Chill the Ratalu raitha in the refrigerator for half an hour.
Garnish with Coriander leaves and serve Purple Yam Raita with you choice of Indian Bread.
