Wall hangings using Pressed Flowers

Pressing fresh flowers and making art out of it was one of the hobbies of the Victorian era.  Here I have shown the method of making wall hangings using pressed flowers.

Potato Chips

Bettadanellikayi Thokku

A chutney prepared using Indian Gooseberries, which can be stored for a long time. Ingredients: 30 Indian Gooseberries 3/4 Cup Salt 2 tsp Oil 1tsp Asafoetida 4tsp Fenugreek Seeds 20 Green Chilies

Soup Masala Powder

A powder prepared using spices to be added to soup just before serving. Ingredients: 10 – 12 pieces Dalchini/Cinnamon 8 Peppercorns 3 Green Cardamoms Salt to taste

Aralu Sandige

Puffed and flattened Rice is mixed with raw white Pumpkin, Green Chilies and Salt and dried in the sun for two days.  This can be stored for a long time.  This dried fryums will be deep fried and served along with Rice-Sambar or Bisibelebhath etc.  This recipe is from Karnataka.

Menasinakai Balaka

Sun dried stuffed Green Chilies, which are Shallow fried before serving in South India. Time Required: 15 Minutes + Drying Time Ingredients: 10 Green Chilies 1tsp Salt 1tsp Fenugreek Seeds A pinch of Hing / Asafoetida 1/4  Cup of Sour Curds

Coconut Garlic Chutney Powder

This chutney powder is prepared in North Karnataka and Maharashtra and is served with Bhakri or Chapathi. Time Required: 10 Minutes

Instant Chutney
