Wall hangings using Pressed Flowers

Pressing fresh flowers and making art out of it was one of the hobbies of the Victorian era.  Here I have shown the method of making wall hangings using pressed flowers.

Potato Chips

The ubiquitous and quintessential Potato wafers.  One is not enough…..
Time Required: 30 Minutes
Ingredients:
10 Large Potatoes
Salt, Pepper, Chili Powder to taste
Oil for frying
A pinch of Cooking Soda

Bettadanellikayi Thokku

A chutney prepared using Indian Gooseberries, which can be stored for a long time.
Ingredients:
30 Indian Gooseberries
3/4 Cup Salt
2 tsp Oil
1tsp Asafoetida
4tsp Fenugreek Seeds
20 Green Chilies

Soup Masala Powder

A powder prepared using spices to be added to soup just before serving.
Ingredients:
10 – 12 pieces Dalchini/Cinnamon
8 Peppercorns
3 Green Cardamoms
Salt to taste

Aralu Sandige

Fryums prepared using puffed rice and ash pumpkin.
Ingredients:
2 Kgs Aralu (A type of puffed Rice)
500gms Ash Pumpkin
100gms Green Chilies
2tsp Hing/Asafoetida soaked in water
Salt to taste

Menasinakai Balaka

Sun dried stuffed Green Chilies, which are Shallow fried before serving.
Ingredients:
1Kg Green Chilies
100gms Salt
100gms Fenugreek Seeds
2tsp of Asafoetida
1 large Cup of Sour Curds

Coconut Garlic Chutney Powder

Ingredients:
Half Desiccated Coconut, Grated
7 – 8 Red Chilies
10 Cloves Garlic
1 tbsp Tamarind
Salt to taste
Method:
Grind all the ingredients together to a powder.

Instant Chutney

A Chutney prepared mixing ready ingredients without the need to grind it to a paste.
Time Required: 5 Minutes
Ingredients:
1 Cup fresh grated Coconut
1 Onion, Chopped finely
1 tsp Chili Powder
1 tbsp Menthedittu (Mixed Lentils, Fried and Powdered)
Salt to taste
1 Cup Curds

Adai Dosa

Spicy pancakes prepared using a mixture of different lentils.
Time Required: 30 Minutes + Soaking Time + Fermenting Time
Makes: 10
Ingredients:
1 Cup Raw Rice
1/2 Cup Bengal Gram split
1/2 Cup Black Gram split
1/2 Cup Green Gram split
8 – 10 Red Chilies
4 – 6 Green Chilies

Alu Chaat Masala

Spicy and tangy Potatoes.
Time Required: 25 Minutes
Serves: 4 
Ingredients:
4 – 5 Potatoes
4 Green Chilies
1tbsp Ginger, Sliced
2tsp Chili Powder
3tbsp Oil
3 Tomatoes, Chopped
1tbsp Anardana (Pomegranate seeds), Roasted and Powdered
A pinch of Ajwain
2 tsp Dhania/Coriander – Jeera/Cumin Powder
2 tbsp Chaat Masala Powder
2tbsp Sweet Chutney
Chopped Coriander for garnishing
Nylon Sev for garnishing
Salt to taste
