The main purpose of building Karapuzha dam was to utilize Karapuzha River for irrigation purpose.
Karapuzha River is a tributary of Kabini River. This is one of the biggest earth dams in India and was completed in 2004.
Height of the dam is 28 meters (92 feet) and length is 625 meters (2,051 feet).
You will have to drive down the green hills to reach this expanse of water with lilies and water birds.
The place is quiet and is a perfect place to catch the sunset.
As we moved near the water to take pictures of the spot billed duck, they kept moving away.
It is worth a visit for nature lovers.
