A snack prepared using winter beans also called as flat beans. This beans is available during winter in Mysore and Bangalore regions. A cup of coffee along with Avarekayi Chivda sets for a perfect evening.
Time Required: 20 Minutes
500gms Avarekayi/Flat Beans
Oil for frying
1tsp Mustard Seeds
25gms Fried Gram
¼ Cup Dry Coconut pieces
25gms Dry Grapes, Optional
Few Curry Leaves
1tsp Red Chili Powder, Optional
A pinch of Ingu/Hing/Asafoetida
1tsp Turmeric Powder
Salt to taste
Roast Sesame Seeds. Soak Flat beans in water for 30 minutes. Squeeze out the skin out of each of the bean. Dry them on a cloth. Deep fry the beans and remove on a paper towel. Fry Groundnuts, Fried Gram and Dry coconut separately and keep aside. Heat one tablespoon of Oil separately and add Mustard seeds and when they splutter, Curry leaves and Hing. Let it cool.
In a big mixing bowl add deep-fried Avarekayi, the fried and roasted ingredients and mix well. Add the seasoning, Chili powder, Dry grapes and Salt and mix well in hand. Store Avarekayi Chivda in dry airtight containers.
