This dish is very popular in Punjab. It is a dish wherein Peas and Cottage Cheese are cooked in Tomato gravy.
Time Required: 20 Minutes
1 Cup Shelled Peas
1 Cup Paneer / Cottage Cheese Cubes
1 Big Onion, Chopped finely
2 Tomatoes, Chopped finely
1tsp Ginger – Garlic paste
2 Green Chilies, Slit
1tsp Coriander Powder
1tsp Cumin Powder
1tsp Red Chili Powder
¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
1tsp Garam Masala Powder
2 to 3 tbsp Cream or Curds (Optional)
3 Sprigs Coriander leaves, Chopped finely
Salt to taste
Shallow fry Paneer and keep it aside. This is optional, you can add Paneer without shallow frying too.
Heat Oil in a kadai/pan and add Onion, Ginger-Garlic paste, Green Chilies and sauté for a minute. Add Tomatoes and stir-fry until all the moisture evaporates. Add Turmeric powder, Cumin powder, Chili powder Coriander powder and stir. Add 2tbsp water and stir. Add Peas and 1 cup water and simmer until Peas are soft. Add Garam Masala, Salt, Cream and Paneer and cook for a minute. Remove to a serving dish and garnish with Coriander leaves.
Serve hot with your choice of Indian Bread.
