Ambe Upakari is a side dish from Uttara Kannada district. Sakkarekaati or Shakkargutli type of Mangoes is used to prepare this dish. If this is not available, you can use any other variety of Ripe Mangoes.

6 – 8 Sakkarekaati Ripe Mangoes
1 tbsp Grated Jaggery (Optional)
4 – 5 Green Chilies, add more if you like it spicy
2 – 3 Dry Red Chilies
Few Curry leaves
1 – 2 tsp Oil
1 tsp Mustard Seeds
A pinch of Turmeric Powder
Peel the Mangoes. Squeeze one or two for pulp. Heat Oil and add Mustard Seeds and when they splutter, add Turmeric Powder, Red Chilies and Curry leaves.
Add the peeled Mangoes and the pulp.
Add Salt, Jaggery and mix well. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
Remove to a serving dish.
Serve with Chapathi or Jower Roti.
