Mavalli Tiffin Room (MTR) introduced a Mango pickle with Green Chilies in the summer of 2003 and discontinued the product after a few months. We had liked the taste of this unique combination and were disappointed at the withdrawal of this pickle. I recreated Mango Green Chilies Pickle in my kitchen and to our delight it tasted the same!
Time Required: 15 Minutes
2 Big Raw Mangoes, Diced
10 – 12 Green Chilies
1tbsp Mustard Powder
1tbsp Methi / Fenugreek Powder
1tsp Turmeric Powder
½ tsp Hing / Asafoetida
6 – 8tbsp Salt
Mix diced Mangoes with Salt, Hing, Methi and Mustard powder and keep it aside for 2 days.
Grind green chilies to a coarse paste. Heat Oil and add the chilies to it and immediately switch off the gas burner. Let it cool. Add this to the Mango pieces and mix well.
Serve Mango Green Chilies Pickle with Roti, Plain Rice or Curd Rice.
