“Neeru” in Kannada means water. Neeru Dosa is prepared with a batter as thin as water and hence the name.
Cuisine: Udupi
Time Required: 20 Minutes + Soaking Time
Serves: 3
Ingredients:
2 cups Raw Rice
1/2 Cup Grated Fresh Coconut (optional)
Oil to grease the pan
Salt to taste
Method:
Soak Rice for 5 hours. Grind Rice and Coconut to a paste. Remove to a vessel and add a cup of water and mix well.
Add Salt to the batter and add 2 cups of water. Let the batter be thin. Heat and grease a Tava/Griddle and pour a spoonful of batter in the center of the pan and spread it evenly using the back of the ladle or by gently turning the Tava in a circular motion.
Cover and cook for 30 second.
Remove to a plate without folding. Let it cool.
Now, fold the dosa and serve with Coconut Chutney or a mixture of fresh Coconut and Grated Jaggery.
Repeat for the remaining batter and stir the batter every time before it is poured on the Tava.
You can also serve Neeru dose with Banana Rasayana or Mango Shikarni.
