This sweet dish is prepared from the pulp of ripe mangoes. During summer Mango Shikarani also known as Aam Ras is prepared in households of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Time Required: 20 Minutes
10 Ripe Mangoes (Preferably Raspuri or Badami/Alphonso Variety)
12tsp of Sugar
A pinch of Salt
1/2 Cup Milk
1 or 2tsp of Melted Ghee (Clarified Butter)
Squeeze out the pulp from the Mangoes in a bowl and add the other ingredients to it except for the Ghee and mix well by mashing the fruit, so that a smooth consistency is achieved. If you require very smooth liquid then can run the mixture in a liquidizer.
Remove Mango Shikarani to a serving bowl and add the Ghee just before serving.
Mango Shikarani can also be served with Hoornada Holige / Stuffed Sweet Bread.
