Wesley Cathedral originally a church is one among the many heritage structures dotting Mysuru very close to the suburb bus stand. Rev John Hachian came from England in 1821. He was a member of the Wesleyan Missionary Society. He raised funds back in England to construct the church. The land was granted by the Maharaja of Mysore. The construction began in 1868 and barely complete when services began in 1871. It was finished to the current state by 1906.
Hachian dedicated this church to the local people and the service was rendered in Kannada. The prayer books are all printed in Kannada. The architecture of this Cathedral is a mix of colonial and Indian style. The beautiful stained glass narrate biblical stories. It has a grand bell tower and elegant arches that define this place of worship.
Though small in size, it can accommodate a maximum of 600 people congregation.
