Halpi – Fried Gram Burfi

A very easy to make sweet dish prepared using fried Gram.  Another name for this recipe is Hurigadale Burfi and perfect to make during Gombe habba (Dasara).

Ingredients:
1 Cup Hurigadale / Fried Gram
1 Cup Sugar
1tsp Ghee
1tsp Gasgase / Poppy Seeds
2tbsp Grated Dry Coconut

Method:
Grind Fried Gram to a powder and keep aside.  Roast Poppy Seeds and keep aside.

Grease a plate and keep it aside.  In a thick-bottomed pan, take Sugar and add enough water to cover the Sugar granules.

Cook until you get single thread syrup.

Add the Fried Gram powder to the Sugar syrup and stir.

Hurigadale Burfi

Add Ghee and stir for a minute.

Pour the mixture on the greased plate and level it.  Sprinkle Poppy seeds over it.  Sprinkle Dry Coconut over the mixture and press it.

Fried Gram Burfi
Cut into desired shapes.
