Akkihebbalu Lakshmi Narasimha Temple is as ancient as our Puranas.
Sage Gouthama’s penance appeased Lord Vishnu and he appeared before him and asked his wish, the sage asked Lord Vishnu to appear as Shree Laxmi Narasimha swamy.
The lord fulfilled his desire and appeared as Shree Laxmi Narasimha swamy in the West direction. The sage completed the installation formalities and worshiped the lord here at Akkihebbalu.
This sacred place is located on the banks of River Hemavathi. The temple was further renovated and expanded by the King of Cholas.
A Tulasi (sacred basil) Brindavana is constructed near the Garuda khamba and it is believed that if you circumambulate the Brindavana 256 times, your wishes will be fulfilled.
Sree Narasimha Jayanthi is celebrated with great devotion. Thousands of people congregate during this time.
