Akki Kadalebele Payasa
A pudding prepared using Rice and Bengal Gram. This is commonly prepared during festivals.
Time Required: 25 Minutes
Ingredients:
2 Cups Rice
1 Cup Kadalebele / Channa dal / Bengal Gram
2 Cups Jaggery, Grated
1 Cup Milk
2tbsp Raisins
2tbsp Gasagase / Poppy Seeds, Roasted
2tbsp Cashew nuts, Fried in Ghee
1tsp Cardamom Powder
A pinch of Saffron soaked in 2tbsp Milk
5 tbsp Dry Coconut, Grated and roasted
2tbsp Ghee / Clarified Butter
Method:
Cook Rice in 5 cups of water and when the Rice is half cooked, add Bengal Gram and let it cook until soft. Add Jaggery and let it melt. Add Ghee, Cashew nuts, Resins, Saffron milk, Gasagase, Cardamom powder and Coconut. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Add Milk and mix well. Serve hot or cold.
