Our unplanned visit to Kaup Beach pronounced as Kapu was a pleasant surprise. The character of the Kaup beach is enhanced by the striking black and white light house built on a sprawling rock on the beach.
Kaup is a small town in Udupi district, Karnataka. The town is famous for the 3 Mariamma temples and also a fort built by Tipu Sultan.

You can climb up the light house for a small fee to get a bird’s eye view of the surroundings. The light house was built in 1901 and working even now guiding thousands of sailors to sail safely away from the rocks. The height of the light house is 27.12 meters and visitors can climb up from 4 p.m to 6 p.m.
Presence of an estuary on Kaup beach makes you marvel at the discipline of nature. Water sports are being introduced on the beach to attract more visitors.
