In Hindi it is known as Guh baboool, Gukikar, Gandh babool, in Kannada it is known as Kasturigibbali. Botanical name is Acacia farnesiana and belongs to Mimosaceae (Touch-me-not) family.
Yellow Mimosa tree grows to a height of 1.5 to 8 meters tall. Thorns are present all over the tree. The bark is rough, brown or grey. The tiny green compound leaves are alternate, pinnately divided leaves.
The flowers are small, round around 1 cm in diameter and bloom in clusters. The blooms have a delicate and unique fragrance. Due to the fragrance, it is much sought after flower in the aromatic Oil and Perfumery industry.
The fruits are glossy and contain seeds.
