Dasara Dose – Cucumber Dosa Recipe – Mullusauthekayi Dosa Recipe – Udupi Recipe

There is an excellent vegetable shop next to the Hanuman temple in Saligrama, Dakshni Kannada.  As I was browsing, I saw giant Cucumbers and casually asked the vendor, whether he knew the different types of dishes that can be prepared using these giant Cucumbers.  He said Dosa is prepared using these Cucumber during Dasara and also shared the recipe!

Cuisine: Udupi

Time Required: 25 Minutes + Fermentation and Soaking Time

Ingredients:
2 Cups Raw Rice
¾ Cup Urad Dal
2 Cups Grated Mullu Sauthekayi / Big Cucumber
2tsp Fenugreek seeds
Oil for roasting
Salt to taste

Method:
Soad Rice, Urad Dal, Fenugreek Seeds for four hours.

Add grated Cucumber to the soaked ingredients and grind to a batter. Leave it overnight.

Heat a tava, and pour a ladle full of batter and spread in a concentric circle. Sprinkle Oil and roast on both sides.

Serve hot with your choice of chutney.
