Onion Dosa

South Indian pancakes with Onion toppings.  The aroma that arises while preparing this Dosa is sure to increase the hunger pangs of everyone at home.

Time Required: 20 Minutes + Soaking and Fermenting Time

Ingredients:
1 Cup Raw Rice
1 Cup Boiled Rice
½ Cup Urad Dal / Black Gram Split
1tsp Methi / Fenugreek Seeds
3 Onions, Chopped finely
4 Sprigs of Coriander leaves, Chopped finely
2 – 3 Green Chilies, Chopped finely
2tbsp Sesame Seeds
Oil for roasting
Salt to taste

Method:
Soak Rice, Boiled Rice, Urad Dal and Methi in water for 6 hours. Grind to a fine batter. Keep aside for 6 to 8 hours. Add Salt and mix well.

In a mixing bowl add Onions, Coriander Leaves, Green Chilies and Salt. Mix well.

Heat tava / flat pan / griddle and pour a ladleful of batter and spread into a thick concentric circle. Spread a spoonful of Onion mixture over it and lightly press the mixture into the batter.

Sprinkle little Sesame seeds over the Onion mixture. Add a teaspoon of Oil on the edges of the Dosa and also over it.

Roast it until golden brown and flip the dosa and roast for a minute and serve hot with your choice of Chutney, Sambar or Sagu or Kurma.
