Today is Mahalaya Amavasya and hence this post on Mysuru Royal Cemetery. Madhuvana Mysuru Royal Cemetery also known as Khasa Brindavana is where the royal members of the erstwhile Mysuru kingdom are given a final farewell. This cemetry is similar to the ones seen in Rajasthan known as Chathris. Unlike Rajasthan, this place is not accessible to visitors.
It is spread over five acres of land and dates back to 18th century.
Each pyre site is enclosed in a carved structure with carved pillars, towers, and arches.
Temple dedicated to Kashi Vishwanatha, Ganapathy and Kalamma are located at the cemetery.
This is a sacred site and good place to pay your respects to the rulers of Mysuru city.
