Payana Vintage and Classic Car Museum Mysuru

Payana

Another addition to the heritage city Mysuru is a wonderful huge Vintage and Classic Car Museum known as Payana located on the outskirts of the city.

You can call it an automobile museum as it comprises of all types of automobiles starting from carts to trucks!  This museum opened in 2024.

Amazing, classy, jaw-dropping, top class are some adjectives that I can think of to explain this museum, which is the largest in India.

Aesthetically done and well kept, it can compete with international museums and be a winner! History of automobile engineering spread over two floors.

This is all thanks to Sri Veerendra Hegde of Dharmasthala for his vision to showcase his collection for the visitors to enjoy. The collection are restored to their past glory and maintained very well by team Payana.

The automobiles on display dates back to 1926 to 1954.

History of each vehicle is mentioned on the display boards.

The museum is like a time machine where you travel back in time looking at these vehicles and reliving some of your memories of enjoying a ride in few of them in your childhood.

I shrieked when I saw the humble Luna (two-wheeler) on display.  Brought back my college days zipping through the Mysuru streets on the Luna.

A car that belonged to Sahasa Simha Dr.Vishnuvardhan the Kannada movie star is on display.

Every single car brand from across the world are on display in excellent running condition.

A car with dismembered parts hanging from the ceiling is iconic.

Exteriors of a car made using rattan is in a class of its own. Mind blowing!
