Nippattu – Thattai Recipe – Nippittu Recipe

Nippattu is a favorite snacks among Mysoreans and Bangaloreans.  This is prepared during festivals like Krishna Janmashtami, Dasara, and on occasions like weddings and upanayana.

Time Required: 30 Minutes

Ingredients:
1 Cup Rice Flour
¼ Cup Maida
2 tbsp Chiroti Rawa / Fine Semolina
¼ Cup Fried Gram Flour
6 Dry Red Chilies, Grind coarsely
1tsp Chili Powder
¼tsp Hing / Asafoetida
¼ Cup Dry Coconut Powder
2tbsp Roasted and Peeled Groundnuts, Crushed
1tsp Sesame Seeds / Yellu (Optional)
2tbsp Hot Oil
Oil for deep frying
Salt to taste

Method:
In a mixing bowl, mix Rice flour, Gram flour, coarsely ground Red Chilies, Chili Powder, Hing, Coconut, Crushed Groundnuts, Yellu and Hot Oil. Add little water and mix to form a tough dough.

Divide the dough into balls and flatten each one of them on the palm.

Heat Oil and deep fry each one of them on low flame. Remove on a kitchen towel and let it cool. Store in airtight container.
