Kulle Ki Chaat Recipe – Potato filled Salad Recipe – Purani Dilli Street Recipe

Kulle Ki Chaat

Kulle ki Chaat is a street food popular in Old Delhi region.  Kulle means a kulhar/cup.  When Chaat (salad) is served in a vegetable or fruit cup, it is known as Kulle ki Chaat.  In this recipe, I have used boiled potatoes as Chaat holder.

Ingredients:
6 Boiled Potatoes carved

For the base:
2 – 3 tbsp Dates chutney or Tamarind sweet chutney
1/2 tsp Chat masala powder
1/2 tsp Roasted Jeera powder
Black salt to taste

For the filling:
1/2 Cup Brown Chikpea/ kala Channa, soaked and cooked with little salt
1 tsp Chat masala powder
1 tsp Roasted Jeera powder
2 tbsp Cup Dates chutney or Tamarind sweet chutney
Juice of a Lemon
Black salt to taste

For garnishing:
Few sprigs of Coriander leaves, chopped finely
1 tbsp Grated Ginger
1/2 Cup Pomegranate pearls
Chili powder to taste

Method:
Halve the potatoes and scoop out the center.  Keep it aside.  You can also save the scooped Potato bits.

Mix the ingredients for the base and keep it aside.

Mix the ingredients for the filling.  You can add the scooped potato bits to the filling mixture.

Add a tsp of the base mixture to each of the halved potatoes.  Spread it evenly.

Fill the potato cup with the filling.

Top the filling with Pomegranate, Coriander leaves, Ginger and Chili Powder.

You can chill for an hour during summer before serving.

Or you can serve immediately.
