Uppinakuduru Kundapura

Uppinakuduru is located 6 km north of Kundapura, Udupi district. 

It is a small island village and was once famous for trading of salt (uppu). Uppinakudru in Kannada means an island of salt or place where salt is produced and exported.

This place could be reached only by boats during Tipu Sultan’s regime.

He had made this as his arsenal. This was also an entry from the Arabian Sea towards Basrur.

Basrur was then a major trade center.

Sri Bedara Kottige Bobbaraya Daivasthana (temple) is situated near one of the islands.
