Srirama Temple, Ponkuzhi

A stop at Srirama Temple, Ponkuzhi on the way from Mysore to Sulthan Bathery is a must, as it is situated in a very serene and scenic place.

The Ponkuzhi River flowing on one side, the bamboo shrubs growing tall and green, a legendary pond makes this place very attractive.

The temple shrines inside the temple complex are all constructed in Kerala style of architecture with tiled roofs.

The pond near the temple surrounded by bamboo and full of Lotus flowers was a result of the falling tears from the eyes of Sita.

Large population of elephants passes this place every year. The main deity here is Sri Rama, Goddess Sita, Sri Lakshmana, and Sri Hanuman.

The other shrines are dedicated to Ayyappa, Ganapathi, Krishna, Subramanya, and Durga Devil
