Kudremukh Peak

Kudremukh Peak

Though we did not trek up to the peak, the drive to the place where the actual trek starts was an awesome journey. Yes, we do plan to trek to the peak sometime soon.

The Kudremukh peak is 1892 meters above sea level and is located between Kalasa and Kurdremukh town.
Permission is required from the forest office to undertake the trek for a small fees and the best time to trek is from October to February. If a big group is trekking, then a forest guide will accompany the group. Camping on the peak is not allowed.
Buses ply between Kalasa and Kudremukh and the bus stops at a place called Baalegal. Here you can see a board calling out that the trek to Kudremukh starts here.

You will have to hire a jeep to reach Mullodi village, which is 6 Km away. There are a few home stays available in Mullodi.

From there the trek starts traversing into the Shola forests for 9 more Km to reach the peak. The views and sights must be breathtaking as you are traversing into the heart of the Western ghats.
