Abbey Falls

Waterfalls whether big or small are always a pleasure to see and enjoy.  Abbey falls is one such waterfall tucked away in a private coffee and spice estate.  It is a sight to behold and watch the many streams up the hills converge and cascade from 70 feet height on to huge boulders.

Abbey falls is situated approximately 10kms from Madikeri and 120kms from Mysore.  A 1.5 km trek downhill inside an estate surrounded by Coffee plants, Pepper vines and Cardamom plants offers a rejuvenating exercise to body, soul and mind.  As the falls gets nearer the thunderous sound makes you stop and listen.

A hanging bridge built right in front of the falls facilitates visitors to view the falls and feel the light spray from the falls even as the water gushes below the bridge and runs eagerly to join river Cauvery.

During Monsoon the waterfalls looks its best but the trek might get slippery due to incessant rains and the path will be infested with leeches.  The best time to visit is from September to February.  During summer the waterfalls is dry with just a trickle.

A picnic to this place is ideal but please ensure that you follow the rules laid out by the estate owner and restrain from polluting the place.  You can also visit Cauvery Nisargadhama an island, which is 25kms from the falls with boating, trek paths, watchtowers, canteen and a souvenir shop
