Jayamangali Blackbuck Reserve

Jayamangali Blackbuck Conservation Reserve is in Tumakuru district close to Maidenahalli. The reserve is spread over 798 acres of grassland and trees like Acacia and Eucalyptus.

The forest department of Tumakuru Division protects the area. There are watchtowers, gazebo, and few sheds for the security to rest.

If you are a nature enthusiast you will surely appreciate the wide variety of flora and fauna.

Various wild plants with flowers attract birds and Butterflies.

Different types of Cactus grow here complementing the Grasslands.

The Butterflies add the required color to the grasslands.

This region is well adapted by the Blackbucks and has an enviable population. The other Blackbuck reserve is the Ranebennur Blackbuck Sanctuary.

Apart from the Blackbucks also known as Indian Antelope and Krishnamruga, Jayamangali is home to Indian wolf, bonnet macaque, jungle cat, small Indian civet, Indian gray mongoose, two species of bats, the Indian fox, the Indian hare, and six species of rodents.

For the birders, this place is a paradise as there are 125 species of birds recorded here.

The sighting also becomes easy as there is a vast expanse of grasslands.

The reptile list is also quite impressive. To see all this, you can go around inside the reserve in your own vehicle.

Visit this place only if you are interested in wildlife. Visit during the early hours or late in the evening.

Ensure that you do not litter the place.
