Paneer Tikka Masala – Cottage Cheese in spicy gravy

Paneer Tikka Masala is a side dish is prepared with grilled Paneer.

Time Required: 45 Minutes

Ingredients:
For the Tikka:

15 1″ square pieces of Paneer/Cottage Cheese
1 Cup Hung curds
1tsp Turmeric Powder
1tsp Chaat Masala
1tsp Chili Powder
1tsp Coriander Powder
1tbsp Kasoori Methi/Dried fenugreek leaves
1tsp Ginger-Garlic paste
A pinch of Garam Masala
Salt to taste

For the gravy:
2tbsp Butter and Oil
1tsp Jeera/Cumin seeds
2 Bay leaves
2 – 3 Cloves
2 Onions, chopped finely
¼ Cup Capsicum slices
3 Tomatoes, Chopped finely
8 Cashew nuts, Powdered
1tsp Chili powder
1tsp Ginger-Garlic paste
1 Green Chili, sliced
1tsp Turmeric Powder
1tsp Cumin Powder
1tsp Coriander Powder
1/4 Cup Cream or Milk
1tsp Sugar
2tbsp Chopped Coriander leaves for garnishing
Salt to taste

Method:
For the Tikka:
Mix all the ingredients  for the Tikka except for Paneer in a bowl. Coat the Paneer cubes with the mixture. Leave it aside for 10 Minutes.

Heat a pan and add Oil and shallow fry the Paneer on both sides or skewer the pieces and grill in an oven until done.

For the Masala:
Heat Oil/Butter; add Bay Leaves, Cloves, Jeera, Ginger-Garlic paste, Onions, Green Chili and stir for 30 seconds.  Add Capsicum and stir for a minute.  Add Tomatoes and continue to stir for two minutes.  Add Chili, Turmeric, Cumin, and Coriander Powder and stir for 30 seconds.  Add Cream, Sugar, and Salt and mix well.

Add Paneer Tikka to the Masala and mix well.  Remove to a serving dish and garnish with Coriander leaves.  Serve hot with your favorite Indian Bread.
