Akki Kadalebele Payasa – Rice Channa Dal Kheer Recipe – Rice and Lentil Payasa Recipe

Akki Kadalebele Payasa

A pudding prepared using Rice and Bengal Gram.  This is commonly prepared during festivals.

Time Required: 25 Minutes

Ingredients:
2 Cups Rice
1/2 Cup Kadalebele / Channa dal / Bengal Gram
2 Cups Jaggery, Grated
1tsp Cardamom Powder
5 tbsp Dry Coconut, Grated and roasted or 1 Cup Fresh Coconut Milk
2tbsp Ghee / Clarified Butter

Dry fruits roasted in Ghee (Optional)

Method:
Cook Rice and Bengal Gram together until soft.  

Remove the cooked rice to a thick-bottomed pan. 

Add Jaggery and let it melt.  

Add Ghee and Coconut Milk and mix well.

Cook for 2 to 3 minutes.  Serve Akki Kadalebele Payasa either hot or cold.
