Varadamoola

River Varada originates from this place and hence the name Varadamoola. It is situated in the Western Ghats of Karnataka 6 Kms from Sagara, Shimoga district. Varadamoola is remote and is picturesque. The place is also called as Theertha grama (holy water village). Many temples are situated in this place along with two Kalyani / holy water tank from where the Varada River bubbles out.

The river flows through the Western Ghats and enters Banavasi, Haveri and Bellary districts of Karnataka and joins the main river Tungabhadra at Galaganath. The river is a major source of drinking water for the people living on the banks and dams have been constructed along the river’s course to provide water for irrigation and domestic purposes during the summer months.

The Varadadevi temple and Sooryanaraya temple along with other shrines are situated in this tiny adorable hamlet.

Wild plants and beautiful colored flowers create a natural landscape.
