Sri Siddhivinayaka Temple – Hattiangadi attracts thousands of visitors around the year from all parts of the world.  Hattiangadi is a village in Udupi district and was the capital of Alupa Kings.  The place was also known as Goshtipura meaning the place of debates.

The drive to Hattiyangadi is mesmerizing with greenery all around.  Varahi River flows nearby to join the Arabian sea. On the banks of the river is a place known as Aramane Adi where a palace stood in the glorious past. Sri Govindarama Yathivarya a saint meditated here in the 16th century and blessed that the place would be world famous.

The idol of Sri Siddhivinayaka was installed in the eighth century by the Alupa Kings. The Ganapathi idol in the temple is 2.5 feet tall made of Saligrama stone and the curly hair is left loose. Trunk is edamuri (turned to left).

The entire sanctum santorum is carved from black marble. As the Ganapathi grants all wishes, he is known as Siddi Vinayaka.
Many types of poojas are performed to the Lord. The temple was renovated in 1980 and again in 1997. A Navagraha mandir is present in the temple complex. The temple runs the Central Gurukula English Medium residential school. An herb plantation costing one crore rupees is being developed.

Ancient scriptures of Siddivinayaka are studied here with great enthusiasm. All this improvements are due to the hard work of Sri Ramachandra Bhat, the managing trustee of the temple.

Many birds like Indian Treepie, Golden Oriole, Sun Birds, Bee Eaters, Wood Peckers can be seen in the surroundings.

Flowers falling during an Aarathi from the crown of the Lord is the highlight of this temple.  As the flower slides down so does the tears of the devotees.
