Lumbini Gardens

Nagavara Lake has had a makeover from the lake authority of India and is now known as Lumbini Gardens. The lake is spread over 43.86 hectares. The lake has been developed by the lake authority of India and is beautifully landscaped.

As you enter the gate of the lake, our own Annavaru / Dr. Rajkumar’s bust greets you in his Babruvahana avatar. The lake bund is 1.5 Kms and one side of the lake bund are many fun games for the family like trampoline bungee jumping, play area for kids, Spanish bull ride, a water park, shooting and other small games,.

There are many restaurants lining the bund and chairs are provided to sit near the bund and enjoy the food or drink or to just gaze at the shimmering lake.

We spotted many water birds like Egrets, Cormorants, Pond Heron and Pied Kingfisher.

Boating is another pleasure activity that one can indulge in during a visit to the lake. There are motor boats and pedal boats available for a price.

There are many sculptures placed in the gardens and they are well lit once it is dark. There is a 25 feet white Buddha statue placed in one corner.

Though I would have preferred not having an amusement park on the banks of a lake, it was a pleasant outing.
