Grand Rooms of Mehrangarh Fort

The Grand rooms of Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur keeps you mesmerized and asking for more.  These rooms were built by different kings in over a period of time.

Some of the notable places inside the fort are as follows:
Moti Mahal (Pearl Palace):
This palace was built by Raja Sur Singh (1595–1619). The king would meet with his ministers and discuss important matters related to the governance and war strategies. There are many hidden balconies from which women could overhear the conversations. The ceiling is decorated in gold filigree and mirrors.

Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace):
A combination of plaster work with large pieces of mirror makes this hall colorful and bright.

Phool Mahal (Flower Palace):
Flower creepers in bloom are painted in gold filigree on walls and ceilings. This was a private and exclusive chamber for the royals.

This was built by Maharaja Abhaya Singh (1724–1749).

Takhat Vilas (Place of strength):
This was built by Maharaja Takhat Singh (1843–1873). He was Jodhpur’s last ruler to reside in the Mehrangarh Fort. The palace is a blend of modern and traditional styles.

Interesting articles are displayed in the Museum and is worth a visit.
