Daily routine in Sri Ramana Maharshi Ashram

Visitors from around the globe visit Sri Ramana Maharshi Ashram and few stay back to know more about the teachings of the guru.

A pamphlet printed in Ramana Maharshi Ashrama, Thiruvannamalai listing out the daily routine of the Ashram as follows:

6.45 a.m – Milk offering to Sri Bhagavan at his samadhi shrine
7.00 a.m – Breakfast
8.00 a.m to 8:45 am – Chanting of the Vedas in front of Sri Bhagavan’s shrine
8.30 a.m to 10.00 am – Puja at the shrine of sri bhagavan foolowed by puja at he shrine of mother
10-45 a.m – Narayan seva poor feeding
11.30 a.m – Lunch
4.00 p.m – Tea/Milk
4.00 p.m / 4.30 p.m – Reading from works of Sri Bhagavan (Tamil)
4-30p.m to 5 pm – Reading from works of Sri Bhagavan (English)
5 p.m to 6 p.m – Chanting of the Vedas in front of Sri Bhagavan’s shrine
6 p.m to 6.3 0 p.m – Puja at the shrine of Sri Bhagavan followed by puja at the shrine of mother

6.30p.m to 7.15 p.m – Tamil parayana: Monday to Saturday; Sanskrit compositions: Sunday
7:30 p.m – Dinner

Sri Chakra Puja is performed between 5:30 p.m and 8:30 p.m on all Fridays, full moon days, and the first day of each tamil month.

Working hours:
Ashram office – 8 – 11 a.m and 2  to 5 p.m
Ashram book depot offers books on Sri Ramana in all major Indian, English and a few foreign languages; also Ramana music in audio and video cassettes are also available

7-30 to 11 a.m and 2.30 to 6.30 p.m
Sri Ramana centenary libray has a large selection of books and magazines on religion, philosophy and literature in all major Indian and European languages. (lending of books are restricted)

Library hours:
8:30 to 11 a.m and 2:30 to 5 p.m
Meditation hall is generally open from 4 a.m to 12 noon and 2 to 9 p.m

Sri Bhagavan’s and mother’s shrine are generally open form 5 a.m to 12.30 p.m and 2 to 9 p.m.

Free dispensary:
The ashram runs a free dispensary open between 4 to 5 p.m on Tuesdays, Thursday and Saturdays

Skandasramam and Virupaksha cave on the hill are generally kept open from 8 a.m to 5 p.m.

No offerings are accepted in Skandasramam and Virupaksha cave. Be careful of so called guides on the hill and outside the ashram. Ladies are advised not to trek alone.

Use of cell phones prohibited in and around the meditation hall, shrines, and inside dining halls.

Any monetary offering may be made only at the ashram office (cashier) and receipt obtained.
Avoid carrying valuables and footwear while inside the meditation hall and shrines.
Guests are requested to strictly adhere to the meal timings.
