Ardhanareeshwara – Dual form of Shiva statue carved in stone and installed a few hundred years ago in Nanjanagudu temple.
Ardhanarishvara statue symbolizes Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi as one form. One half is Shiva and the other is his consort Parvathi. Here there is a strong message that the earth cannot exist with only men or only women. I also believe that our puranas (stories) showed the equality of men and women.
