Bayisida Mavinakayi Gojju – Mango Curry

Raw mango is cooked, mashed and mixed with spices and seasoning. This is a delicious and authentic dish straight from the kitchens of Udupi in Karnataka.

Time Required: 25 Minutes

Ingredients:
1 Raw Mango
½ Cup Curds
3 Green Chilies
1tbsp Oil
1tsp Kadlebele / Bengal Gram
1tsp Uddinabele / Black Gram split
½ tsp Mustard Seeds
A pinch of Hing / Asafoetida
Salt to taste

Method:
Cook Mango in cooker. Peel it and remove the pulp and throw away the stone. Grind the pulp to a paste. Remove to a mixing bowl and add Curds, Salt and crushed Green Chilies and mix well. Heat Oil and add Kadlebele, Uddinabele and when they turn pink add Mustard Seeds and Hing. Pour this over the Mango mixture and mix well. Serve with plain Rice, Ghee and Balaka / Roasted Dry chilies.
