Tropical Sage

Botanical name is Salvia Coccinea and belongs to Lamiaceae family.  Other common names of Tropical sage are Texas sage, Scarlet sage, Tropical Sage, and blood sage.


Tropical Sage is a perennial herb and is a native of Mexico.  It grows as a weed in most parts of India.


The plant grows to a height of 4 feet.  The leaves are triangle shaped, hairy, green and pretty.  Flowers are Red, Salmon, Pink, White, and Orange.  Flowers bloom on the tip of the stem on loose whorls.


It is a popular garden plant and the flowers are also used to offer to gods.
