Creating a Bonsai

Bonsai is a very interesting hobby.  You can create miniature trees and landscapes to add an oriental touch to your garden.

Materials Required:
1 Bonsai Pot
1 mature sapling of Mango or Ashoka or Umbrella plant or Pipal or Banyan, here I have used Fern Verona
Soil + Sand + Manure
Rock (optional)
Ground Cover (optional)
10 – 12” Binding wire (this depends on the size of the pot and plant)
Cutting Pliers
Steel Mesh according to the size of the Bonsai pot
Crumbled clay pot or rocks

Method:
Cut the binding wire and insert it into the pot holes as shown in the picture.

Thread the mesh into the wire as shown in the picture.

Put crumbled clay pot or rocks as a drainage layer in the pot.  Sprinkle some sand.  Take out the sapling and trim the roots.  Place it in the middle of the pot and tie the plant with the binding wire as shown in the picture.

Fill the pot with the soil mixture and gently pat the soil down.  Water the plant and keep in shade for a day or two.
