Boodakumbalakayi Sippe Balaka – Ash Pumpkin Skin Fryums

Sippe Balaka

The peels of Ash Pumpkin are sun dried with spices. Boodakumbalakayi Sippe Balaka can be stored can deep fried whenever desired to be relished with Anna / Rice and Saaru / thin curry.

Ingredients:
1 Cup of 1” square pieces of Boodakumbalakayi / Ash Pumpkin Peel
1tbsp Menthya / Methi / Fenugreek Powder
¼ tsp Hing / Asafoetida
½ tsp Salt

Oil for deep frying

Method:
Mix Menthya, Hing and Salt in a mixing bowl. Add the Peels to the masala and mix well.

On a steel tray arrange the masala smeared peels and sun dry for a day. By evening the peels become crumpled and dried. Store them in an airtight container.

Heat Oil and deep fry the Balaka. The peels puff up and become brown and crisp. Serve with Anna – Saaru or Anna – Huli or Bisibelehulianna.
