Orchid Aerides Ringens

Aerides is a genus belonging to the Orchid family.  It is an high altitude epiphytes.  The fragrant blooms are usually white and orchid pink. They are hardy plants and can be grown easily at home with the right kind of orchid potting mixture or tied to a tree.  The leaves are about 1cm wide and have purple shades on the leaves.

Orchid Aerides Ringens pictured in this post was collected from Srinagar, Uttaranchal. The nameplate read as Vanda, but it is actually an Aerides Ringens found abundantly in Western Ghats.

I tied this plant on a bonsai tree and it flourished beautifully and we were rewarded with blooms. It enhanced the beauty of both the Bonsai and the orchid plant. The blooms are white with a tinge of pink and the flowers are really tiny clustered on a spike.
