Papitha Sabzi

A side dish prepared using Raw Papaya. This is a very common dish prepared in the kitchens of  Orissa and Bihar.

Time Required: 25 Minutes
Serves: 4

Papaya Sabzi

1 medium sized Raw Papaya, Peeled and diced
1 big Potato, Peeled and diced
4tbsp Oil
1 Big Onion, Chopped finely
2 Tomatoes, Chopped finely
2tsp Jeera Powder
2tsp Aamchur Powder
2tsp Chili Powder
1 tsp Mustard Seeds
Salt to taste

Heat Oil, add Mustard Seeds and when they splutter add Onion and sauté until they turn translucent, add Tomatoes and stir for 2 minutes. Add Chili, Jeera and Aamchur powder and stir. Add Potato, Raw Papaya, Salt and 3 cups of water and close the vessel. Cook until the vegetables are soft.

Papaya Sabzi

Remove to a serving dish and serve hot with Roti.
